A beautiful modern 2 bed apartment in a quiet secluded part of Italy. Perfect for relaxing and taking in the views of the mountains whilst sipping the vino! It's located close enough to the local town to get supplies, great restaurants, and plenty of Ice Cream shops and a short drive to many places of interest and the beach in Pescara (which is a lovely clean sandy beach). The owners are very friendly and helpful and live in the attached farm house so on hand if needed...

Returned to the UK completely chilled and will definitely be returning!

Villa Ulignano was in a beautiful quiet location, surrounded by mountains, vines and olive trees. The apartment had everything you could need and Michelle and Dougie were so friendly, welcoming and helpful. Nothing was too much trouble and they were full of local knowledge.

My husband spent most of his time cycling which he raved on about and he did some iconic Giro d'Italia climbs.

With beautiful mountain villages, the local, lively town of Sulmona and the beach not too far away there was plenty to do. We couldn't have wished for a better apartment, location or hosts. Thanks so much!

We stayed at Villa Ulignano while travelling around Italy. We simply cannot recommend it highly enough for anyone wanting to experience some real Abruzzo! We arrived during very cold weather and left during very hot weather,but we found the appartment to be perfectly equipped for both conditions, with central heating and a wood burner (fantastic!) for those cold times but also balcony and shuttered windows for the hotter times.
The grounds and views are simply stunning with mountain peaks literally all around you. The main sandy beach at Pescara is only 40 mins away, but there are many incredible lakes even nearer. Or you can go skiing at just 45 mins!
The appartment was equpped with absolutely everything we could possibly need, including a full collection of dvds! Plenty of storage and plenty of parking.
The town of Sulmona is only 4 km away and a really pleasant cycle (we cycled to the town almost every day with our two small children). The town has a brilliant market twice a week for all your fruits, cheeses and salamis etc - a must visit! Has some great restaurants and shops and just the best ice cream you will find!
The local people are the most friendly you will ever meet, and they really can not do enough for you.
The area around the appartment is so quiet and peaceful that we really felt we were miles from anywhere (in a great way), but in just a few short minutes we found many busy towns and could easy access motorways to take trips to find pretty much anything we wanted - waterparks, national parks, lakes, beaches, shopping mega centres, cinemas etc etc. It also has a train station with excellent links to all the great parts of Italy.
The owners, Michelle & Dougie, have really put so much thought into this accomodation, to make it such a pleasant and welcoming place to stay, and the area is such a lovely place to visit. We would recomend this rental to anyone who wants to guarantee they will get great accomodation, great location, great local people, and great owners!
We will definately be returning to Villa Ulignano and we hope you enjoy it as much as we did.

We booked Villa Ulignano on a recommendation from a friend who had stayed here previously and our expectations were high as a result; we were not disappointed. The accommodation is as described and was easily located thanks to the detailed directions we received from the owners, Dougie and Michelle. The property is in a very rural location (which is definitely our preference) requiring a rental car however the nearest town, Sulmona is only a couple of miles away where there are several supermarkets and plenty of restaurants, cafes, bars et cetera. Dougie and Michelle (and their two boys) were perfect hosts, always on hand to offer advice regarding places to see and things to do. They have integrated into the local community which meant that we got to experience what the area is really like via their connections. We would recommend a visit to Scanno and the nearby Lago di Scanno; we took a picnic and enjoyed a few hours just relaxing by the lakeside (we parked in a cark park at the southern end of the lake which was free). We also went to Caraminico Terme via Cansano and Campo di Giove which is a pleasant drive. In Caraminico you can get free access to a nature reserve via an office in town and follow various trails from 1 hour duration upwards. Other places that we visited and would recommend were Pacentro, and the village of Bugnara which close to Villa Ulignano. A restaurant beside a fishing lake on the way into the village is worth checking out. We went to Al Quadrivio restaurant in Sulmona and would recommend it. This is a great area if you like walking in the mountains, cycling and is also close to ski resort (25 minutes). Again Dougie/Michelle were on hand to advise and both accompanied us on walks around the area and in the mountains. Overall we had a lovely holiday at Villa Ulignano (thanks to our hosts) and would not hesitate to go back or recommend it to our friends.
